site help (not public page)
Any videos are not polished they are here to help understand problems as they arise and how best to correct the problems. There are also suggestions of online tools that will help you with image size & cropping.
This page has resource links: https://rootsghana.com/site-media/1. Images Resources & Tools
Resources for free images, file compression & cropping, we suggest using the webp format for the best compression or avif, although these tools sometimes make the file size bigger so please check. The idea media kb size is anything below 120kb but the smaller the better.
Image libraries always check any image copyright, when you download the file change the name but add a ref eg: ‘nice picture of boat company name pix-4569876234.jpg‘ so here I’ve added pix-4569876234 for pixabay and the image file ref. Should someone come along and say you are using a copyright image you know where it came from.
Yes this happens with spammers trying to earn a quick buck claiming the image belongs to their client, so for the small amount of time it takes be safe, because you won’t remember 6 months from now what resource an image came from.

FAQ’s aka Travel Tips
FAQ’s these need to be clear and all coming from the same source, so we don’t get conflicting information across our web site. Let’s say you have delivery information that’s on 50 pages/posts across your site, you sure as hell don’t want to be editing this 50 times. That’s why we have a CPT for faq’s which is then sorted by category
media cropping
You have the perfect image well almost, it just has things in the picture that ruin the actually purpose that you need it for. Welcome to the world of image cropping (link) to get the perfect result, please bear in mind that your cropped image may still need to be compressed.
media issue overview size
I’ve only focused on the first page of items in the media library @ the bottom of the media page is the option to go to the next page
Media issue replacement
First create a local folder to save all your images, then use an online tool to compress the file size ideally you are aiming @ under 100kb but that also depends on the picture content like blue sky images sometimes won’t work @ 100kb so you will have to go bigger on the file size.
Now the other thing to consider is the image width/height very big like 2400x2400px – now by resizing the image to say 1280 x 800px you will reduced the overall file kb size. Then compress image.
Tip: name your images “subject name size” eg: (two cats looking down from a tree Roots Ghana 600.jpg) / this helps you find images in the media library and helps tell search robots about your image and page

Media Plugins Optimisation
Why using a plugin is not such a great idea, firstly they backup the whole media library for safe keeping, thus increasing your web hosting file size, which means you could/will get charged more for the space your website is using. It maybe a free tool but it’s not paying your yearly hosting bill.

media resize compress squoosh
We are just looking at one online tool called Squoosh (link) with this you drag drop an image onto the tool – in the bottom left corner is the current file size – bottom left corner is the file size with compression and the download button. This app also offers a resizing option, I would suggest that if you have done a file compression you download that, if you now need to resize the image re upload the compressed file
